Mary Alice’s passion for horses began around 1996 when she and her sister pleaded to attend pony camp after hearing all their friends talking about it at school. She went on to compete on the hunter jumper circuit, and later rode on the University of Tennessee’s Equestrian Team. As an amateur, Mary Alice showed her horse, Regardless, in the preadult ring until his retirement. She currently cheers on her green horse and pony - Seaside and Farnley Sea Salt respectively - from the sidelines.

Beyond her equestrian pursuits, Mary Alice has a successful background in the finance industry. She has led marketing and communications teams for prominent broker-dealers and Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). However, her experiences with her horses' and her own injuries sparked a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by equestrians. Recognizing the need for comprehensive support in both health and wealth, Mary Alice founded Karrot Equestrian to fill these gaps and empower fellow horse enthusiasts.

Mary Alice resides outside of Memphis, Tennessee, on her farm with her husband, John, along with their three horses, two dogs, two cats, and Taco - the mini donkey.

Since attending riding camp at the age of 10, Kate  has been obsessed with horses. After wearing her parents down, she went on to compete on the hunter/jumper circuit. As an amateur, Kate competed with her horses Breakfast in Bed in the adult hunters, jumpers, and equitation until “Waffle” needed to step down and Breadwinner, her young hunter she “amateur proofed” while he campaigned in the green divisions.

You might know Kate under her other alias, Kate at the In Gate, her equestrian photography and content creation brand. She balanced photographing private horse show, portrait, and branding clients while pursuing her own goals in the saddle. When that ultimately led to burnout, she made the difficult, emotional decision to sell her horse and take a break from the equestrian industry. While Kate was left to grapple with her horse girl identity—or lack thereof—she wished for someone to talk to who had experienced the same thing. And so, Karrot Equestrian was born.

Kate lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her goldendoodle, Willie. She may or may not spend late nights scrolling her phone, looking for her next young hunter prospect.
